What’s your CPD plan this year? It’s a question every business should be asking itself.

At Superstars, it’s part of our organisational ethos to keep planning and working towards CPD and improvement – both as a business, and as individual team members.

Our Director, Steven Watson, is currently enrolled as a learner on two of our Superstars registered qualifications – one via 1st4Sport (PE & School Sport), and the other via Innovate Awarding (Fitness Instructing & Personal Training).  At first, we thought that Steven’s enrolment was his ‘creative’ and somewhat sneaky way of observing and keeping an eye on delivery staff, but he’s far too proud of his team and confident in their integrity for it to be that!  Instead, his enrolment as a learner on the courses has been so that he can really get to know the qualifications – and indeed the learners – under the Superstars remit.  It’s also because he’s a bit of a geek, but we can think of worse traits in a boss!

Given how quickly qualifications change and evolve, and the ways in which learners learn diversifies, Steven’s approach is spot on, and we challenge more business Directors and CEOs out there to engage in the same CPD that their staff or indeed their learners (if applicable) are going through.

Here are three reasons why, if you’re top dog at your organisation, we believe you should get involved:

1. It helps with team motivation and bonding, showing that all members of the organisation are equal – especially in terms of capacity for improvement and development.
2. It keeps you in touch and on board with the product you’re selling or the service you’re offering – because nobody should know more about this than you.
3. As a senior influencer, you can work directly with awarding/accrediting bodies to shape the future of the course or qualification you are working towards – not a bad boast for your organisation!

Learning should never stop, and being a good leader is all about knowing that you’re not always going to be the most educated person in the room.
